MEMORIAL TO CHIEF
UNVEILING AT TE KUMI
(From Our Own Correspondent) TE KUITT, Tuesday. Between 500 and 600 Maoris from all parts of the Rohe Poty.e assembled at To Korapa Pa, Te Kumi, near Te Kuiti, on Sunday, to witness the unveiling of a memorial to the late Chief Moerua, of the Ngati-Maniapoto tribe, who died in 1921. The ceremony was to have been performed by Sir Apirana Ngata, Native Minister, but he was unable to attend. In his absence the unveiling was per-
formed by Whero Whero, son of Mrs Hikaka Hetet and nephew of King Te Rata.
