SALESMAN IN COURT ARREST AT AUCKLAND Press Associatioi t CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. A land salesman, Alfred Ernest Craddock. was charged in the Magistrate's Court at Christchurch today: (1) that on or about April 9, 1929, he stole the sum of £BBS, the property of D. Dam - iano; (2) that on or about April 9, 1929, he received £BBS on terms requiring him to account for or pay the same to Thomas Wallace, and did fraudulently omit to account for or pay the same. In asking for a remand the police stated that they did not oppose bail, but stipulated that it should be substantial, as the accused was arrested on board a steamer bound for Australia at Auckland, and that he should be ordered to report daily to the police. Accused was remanded on these conditions until May 28, bail being fixed at £3OO in accused’s own recognisance -and one surety of £3OO-
