CONGREGATIONALISTS IN WARM DEBATE A CLASH OF OPINIONS (United P.A. — By Telegraph — Copyright) Reed. 11 a.m. BRISBANE. Today. At the assembly of the Congvoji tional Union of Australia and New Zealand, a warm debate took plat ** upon a resolution advocating the outlawry of war. One delegate denounced war as infamous. Another said that if they were not prepared to defend certain principles they would be cowards. A motion was carried that the a.sembly records its profound joy and thankfulness that 62 out of 64 independent States have accepted the K* 1logg Pact, and recognising that if this action is to be effective in ridding thworld of the scourge of war. they must be supported by public opinion. Mr. Lewis, New Zealand, said no one would vote for war, but If the euemv came within their gates the' would resist him. He paid a tribiu*to the work of the League of Nationbut declared that war was not to bo abolished by a stroke of the pen.
