FORGOT TO GET PERMIT
BOXING OFFICIAL IN COURT Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Today. Huddart Richards Sampson, secretary of the Christchurch Amateur Boxing Club, was charged today that, °n May 14, he held a boxing. contest without having been granted a permit py the police. Counsel said it 'was lust an unfortunate oversight. Sub-Inspector O’Hara said: “We look upon this as a rather serious offence. lam instructed not to ask lor a heavy penalty, as the club is a reputable one and the permit would nave been granted had the application been made sooner-” The Magistrate (Mr. E. C. Levvey): You say it is a serious offence and yet You don’t press for a heavy penalty, fnat doesn’t appear very consistent. Defendant was convicted and discharged.
