CANTON MENACED

CITY LIKELY TO FALL SHORTLY STRONG KWANGSI ATTACK (United Service) HONG-KONG, Monday. The Kwangsi offensive against Canton has heen renewed with marked energy. This morning’s reports indicate that the city is likely to fall shortly. The main body of the Kwangsi army is making toward the arsenal at Shekchang, on the outskirts of Canton. Heavy gunfire can clearly be heard In the city, which is under martial law. The British gunboats Moth and Cicala are standing by Wuehow for the purpose of evacuating foreigners. An American warship is there for the same purpose. It is believed that many Canton Chinese are eager to see the Kwangsi forces win owing to the reputation and progress of that province.
