Hockey

TE AWAMUTU Two games were arranged under the auspices of the Waipa Ladies' Hockev Association for competition for the Finch Rose Bowl at Te Awamutu on Saturday. The first match was between Otorolianga and Te Awamutu. Some good combined play was witnessed. L. Leatham scored a few minutes before half-time. The second sptu was keenly contested, but no further score was obtained, the game onditj in favour of Otorolianga by one goal to nil. Miss L. Leatham and Mrs. Miller played well for Otorohanga. while Misses W'. Wallace and M. Craig did best for Te Awamutu.. , Te Kuiti v. Paterangi match followed and proved interesting, Paterangi winning by seven goals to two. Fir Paterangi Mises G. Bell (3), P. Sifleit (2) and M. blacky (2) scored. Messn. C. A. Finch and B. Spiers were the referees.

FRANKLIN In the Franklin Hockey Associations competitions the Buckland women's A team and the Tuakau team drew with one goal each (Miss E. Wiggins and Miss A. Cathcart). In the B grade Buckland was defeated by Pukekauu by S —o. HAURAKI PLAINS In fine weather on wet fields, the Hauraki Plains Ladies’ Hockey Association's inter-club competition was continued on Saturday. Waitakaruru beat Kopuarahi "B” by four goals to one. Miss Candy notched the losers' goal. The visitors goals were scored by the blisses Beaver 3 and Berney 1. For Ngatea School against Kerepeehi "B" Miss K. blcKerchar shot four goals and Miss M. Elliott ons and against Turua. the Kerepeehi ‘A' team won by eight goals to one. The newly-forme d men's hockey club at Turua played its first match on Saturday, meeting the Foundry team from Thames. The visitors won hifi ve goals to four. The Kerepeehi Club was not sufficiently organised to meet the veteran Kopuarahi team and had to forfeit. THAMES The hockey cup competition saw High School defeated by Thames, the score being 7 goals to 1.
