WILTSHIRE AND WAIMAI

ANE of the most interesting schooling items of the week was provided at Te Rapa on Saturday in the work-out over hurdles of Wiltshire and Pendavies, two jumpers from R. C. Syme’s stables that may be expected to race prominently at the Ellerslie meeting. Both jumped well, and although Wiltshire, as one would expect, had slightly the better of the argument, his stable-mate showed that he was a force to be reckoned with. It is quite on the cards that Pendavies will carry the Wilson colours in the big hurdles and that Wiltshire will be reserved for the Steeplechase. His owners consider that Wiltshire is every bit as good as their old favourite, Waimai, and if he is, the Great Northern will be a jog for him.
