BEAUTIFYING MATAMATA
NEW SOCIETY FORMED Convened by* Mr. J. Buchanan, chairman of the Town Board, a meeting at Matamata decided to form a beautifying society. Mr. Buchanan presided and said that his board recognised the value of such a society to any town and would grant a subsidy up to £SO for the first year on a £1 for £1 basis. He moved that a society be formed. Mr. A. Young seconded the motion. Officers elected were: President, R. W. Stevens; vice-president, W. S. Wilson; secretary, A. Young; treasurer, L. Flower; executive, Knyvett, Tong, Connor, Corbett, and two members of the town board.
