TALLYMEN’S AWARD
AMENDMENTS MADE CASUAL WORKERS’ POSITION Under an amendment made to the Auckland Tallymen’s award, all casual workers performing the duties of tallymen are made subject to the provisions of the award. A preference clause has been inserted in favour of unionists, but it operates only so long as the rules of the union permit workers of good character and sober habits to become members of the union. Aleal hours have been fixed for any hour between the following limits:— Breakfast, 7 a.m. to 9- a.m.; dinner, noon to 2 p.m.; tea, 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.; supper, 10 p.m. to midnight. The rate of pay for permanent tallymen substantially employed at that work has been fixed at £ 4 10s a week.
