FILM BEAUTY SUED

CAFE CONTRACT BROKEN REFUSED TO DANCE IN TIGHTS Because she refused to appear in tights in a Montmartre night establishment, and to dance before the customers in this very simple costume, a young Parisian beauty is being sued before the court by the head of a cinema firm. At Deauville during last season a beauty competition was advertised, the winner to be called “La Belle de Deauville,” and to be engaged in a film bearing that title, and to receive 50,000 francs. A young Paris mannequin, Mile. Meliance Merey, was selected by the jury. Through a law official the film manager summoned Mile. Merey to appear in a certain supper and dancing resort of Montmartre dressed only in tights, and to dance there in order that he might satisfy himself that she could play her part in the “Belle de Deauville” film. At midnight La Belle de Deauville, accompanied by a friend, arirved at th • Montmartre establishment. She was dressed in tights, as requested, but her body was enveloped in a thick fur coat. Mile. Merey and her friend found that the conditions for her exhibition had not been observed. The liall was filled by gay people enjoying champagne and supper. After a look round La Belle de Deauville (who had remained closely draped in her fur coat) simply withdrew, accompanied by her friend.
