COURT ALLOWS £25 Press Association INVERCARGILL, Thursday. Legal argument was Jieard by Mr. Justice Smith in the Supreme Court today, on the question of privilege in the case in which the Southland Farmers’ Cash Supply Service sued Ronald Sim, farmer, of Otahuti, for £2,000 damages for loss of business allegedly due to a statement reflecting on the plaintiffs’ business methods, made by defendant at a meeting of the provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union. The jury yesterday awarded plaintiffs £25. After hearing counsel for defendant His Honour said he was satisfied there were no grounds for privilege. He entered judgment for the amount fixed by the jury, with costs according to scale.
