MEETING OF EXECUTIVE Mclntyre for ponsonby A meeting of the Management Committee of the Auckland Rugby League was held last evening, Mr. George Rhodes presiding. Mclntyre’s registration with Ponsonby was not passed off lightly. Mr. B. Longbottom said Mclntyre played two seasons ago for Newton, and had in the meantime taken part in competition matches in Sydney, where he was a member of the North Sydney Club. Mr. Longbottom claimed that. Mclntyre, owing to liis absence from Auckland for a period of 12 months, was a free member. Mr. Davidson asked whether a player had to revert to his old club when he had been transferred to an affiliated League, or to overseas Leagues. The speaker cited several cases ruled in precedent. After the chairman had upheld Mr. Longbottom’s contention, Mclntyre was declared a registered member of the. Ponsonby Club. A lengthy discussion followed a decision of last season’s committee that all senior A grade matches be played at Carlaw Park. Air. W. J. Davidson questioned whether it was not merely a recommendation. seeing eight teams were now included in the competition. The chairman said it was intended by the Advisory Committee to concentrate all senior matches at Carlaw Park, and he appealed to all clubs to pay particular attention to the request. Air. Rhodes further stated it was the intention of the Auckland League to spend a considerable sum of money on improvements to accommodation for players, and lie saw no reason why senior teams could not participate. Air. P. Henry said it was impossible for members of the Newton team to play early matches, as its players had to travel long journeys .at a heavy expense. After further discussion, it was decided to play senior games at Carlaw Park, where possible.
