AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY

OBSERVANCE OF SABBATH CHURCH BROADCAST Reporting on Sabbath observance at the monthly meeting of the Auckland Presbytery yesterday, the Rev. W. L. Marsh expressed the view that in addition to special services on the subject, there should be a public demonstration, possibly in the Town Hall, to bring the question prominently before the public. A proposal to group suburban churches of various denominations with a view to organising occasional wireless broadcasts from them was mentioned by the Rev. W. D. Morrison Sutherland, who said these would be in addition to the services now being broadcast. A committee was set up to co-operate with Mr. Sutherland in arranging the proposed groups. Regarding the method of carrying out Presbytery visitations of congregations it was decided that the visiting committee should meet with the congregation at a date later than its meeting with the office-bearers. The Rev. John Bissett, assembly vangelist, who has been ill for the past five months, reported that he hoped to be able to go South to resume his evangelistic campaigns within the next two or three weeks. A resolution of sympathy was passed with the Rev. M. Richards, of Takarnina, in his illness, and he was granted ' hree months’ leave of absence. The Rev. S. J. Atkins was appointed interim noderator of the charge. An address on the aims and progress of the Christian Endeavour movement was given by Miss Jennie Street, of London.
