GAME OUT OF SEASON ILLEGAL SHOOTING COSTS £l2 (From Our Oxen Correspondent) ROTORUA, Monday. Breaches of the shooting regulations were responsible for two “sportsmen” being dealt with by Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court today. A. J. Brown was charged by the Tourist Department, which controls the Rotorua acclimatisation district, with shooting quail in the close season and obstructing the ranger in execution of his duty. On the first charge defendant was fined £2 and costs, and on the second £lO and costs, a total of £l2 Bs. W. J. Gillett was charged with having game in his possession in the close season and shooting quail during the close season. The second charge was withdrawn and on the first he was fined £ 5 and costs. Ranger Cobeldick represented the Tourist Department and Mr. Roe appeared for the defendants.
