WASHED UP AT BIRKENHEAD.—Jack Wingrave, aged 15, was drowned and his companion, Charles Fletcher, aged 18, had a narrow escape when this 14-foot canvas canoe overturned in achoppy sea off Kauri Point yesterday The canoe is now drawn up in Hinemoa Park. The sails and paddles have been removed.
