RESISTED POLICE
TROUBLESOME HUSBAND SENTENCED GAOLED FOR A MONTH Resisting the constable who was called for protection by his wife resulted in Murdo Mcßae’s appearance at the Police Court this morning. IfcRAE, a seaman, aged 26, pleaded guilty on four charges. He admitted being found drunk in Patteson Street, breaking the terms of his prohibition order, using obscene language and resisting Constable Walsh in the execution of his duty. In the opinion of Sub-Inspector McCarthy, Mcßae had been making a nuisance of himself and his wife had come to the police for protection. In the scuffle that he had had with apcused the constable had torn his uniform. “The danger is that the constable was alone in Freeman’s Bay and anything might have happened,” added the sub-inspector. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., recalled McRae's earlier appearances before the court. "He was up 4 for a breach of his order last month and it is not so long ago since he was charged with being idle and disorderly,” he said. Sentence of one month’s imprisonment was imposed.
