PETROL STATION THEFTS
MAN PLEADS GUILTY Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Gilbert Bannister Simpson and John Hubert Anderson appeared in the Supreme Court today on two charges of breaking and entering and one of theft. Simpson pleaded guilty to theft of goods valued at 6s 6d and Anderson pleaded not guilty. Simpson was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to pay costs of the prosecution, £7. The offences were alleged to have taken place at a petrol station on Papanui Road. Crown witnesses stated that the two accused were found in the petrol station after it had been closed by the owner, and that Simpson had various &rtides in his possession. There was no evidence that Anderson had taken the goods and the jury’s verdict was not guilty.
