TWO CHARGES FAIL
DISAGREEMENT ON THIRD MAN TO BE RETRIED There were two acquittals and a disagreement at the Supreme Court yesterday, when Peter Dowie, represented by Mr. Noble, was charged with indecent assault, assault, and indecent exposure. The offences were alleged to have been committed against a girl, aged 11. The Crown Prosecutor, Mr. V. R. Meredith, said that accused, when interviewed, said: "That’s what comes of booze. I’ll get five years' this time.” Accused was found not guilty on the first two charges, and as the jury failed to agree on the third, a new trial was ordered.
