WAIKATO RETURNED MEN

ASSOCIATION’S GOOD YEAR Gratification at the increase of membership from 61 to 83 is expressed in the annual report of the Waikato Returned Soldiers’ Association. The annual meeting will be held next Thursday. An increasing amount of pension business has claimed the attention of the executive during the year and success lias attended many applications. The sale of poppies in April, I‘J2S. totalled £262 lls 4d, a record for many years. The money was subsidised £1 lor £1 by the Borough Council and used to provide work for unemployed returned men. The executive was given £l5O from the canteen fund to be used over a wide district, including Rotorua. Te Awamutu and Te Kuiti. The bulk of the money will probably be used bv the incoming executive this winter. Reference is also made in the report to the success of the Anzac Day parade and the smoke concert at the close of last annual meeting.
