MAORI WOMAN SHOT
GUN DISCHARGED BY LIGHTNING INJURIES SERIOUS Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, Friday. Critically injured by the discharge from a shot-gun under extraordinary conditions, a native woman, Mrs. Haw, is lying at her home at Okato late tonight too seriously injured to be moved to hospital. The gun is said to have been discharged by lightning. It was a double-barrelled weapon. lying on its side on a table. It was loaded and the trigger was cocked. There came a blinding flash of lightning. accompanied instantaneously by a crash of The gun exploded and Mrs. Haw, who was working at a stove 18ft away, received the full charge in her chest, neck and arm. At a late hour tonight the injured woman's condition was very grave.
