DAYLIGHT HOLD-UP
SYDNEY MAN'S REPORT TO DETECTIVES £3OO ALLEGEDLY TAKEN SYDNEY, Thursday. A story of an alleged daylight holdup and robbery was told to detectives in Sydney this afternoon by Allan Edwards, aged 25, employed by a firm of plumbers and gasfitters in the city. He asserted that he had obtained £3OO from the Commonwealth Bank. It represented the wages of his fellow employees. He went on to say that he was carrying the money in a small attache case when a man came up behind him in the subway at St. James’ underground station and dealt him two blows on the head and thrust two fingers into his mouth to prevent him calling for assistance. The man then threw him down, said Edwards, snatched his bag containing the money, and disappeared outside the subway among a crowd of pedestrians. Edwards looked little the worse for his experience.
