Horses That Should , Even If They Do Not

Form in public is probably the best guide for the backer. Here are a few cogent reasons why certain horses have every opportunity to score to-morrow at Pukekohe. Cruachan (Trial, first division) was second to Prince of Orange in a similar class at Te Rapa a fortnight ago. and the Prince is not eligible for this event. Parfait Amour (Trial, first division) was third to Craachan in the race referred to above. Loving Cup (trial, second division), in his last start, at Avondale, was third to Arihana and Arcliileen. The latter subsequently won at Te Rapa, so the form was really good. At Avondale the distance was seven furlongs; tomorrow it is six—all the better for Loving Cup, and Arihana and Arcliileen will not be there. Welcome Home (Ramarama Highweight) ran two solid races under heavy imposts at Whangarei. Has about same weight tomorrow, with minimum raised a couple of stone. Should see it out in moderate field. Brampton (Ramarama High-weighti —Goes best over a middle distance and this event should suit him right down to the ground. Leitrim (Pukekawa Hack) —A quick beginner, whose close third to Archileen and .Brilliant Light at 1 e Rapa last week suggests that he is back to his good form of last spring. . Prince of Orange (Pukekawa Hack) —After winning the Trial at Te Rapa, ran a splendid race in Archileen’s affair on second day, finishing fairly close up after being off the course at the home turn. . In The Shade (Massey Memorial Cup).—Was right up fourth to Aussie. Mosque, and Corinax first day at Te Rapa, and this trio are absent tomorrow; finished third, couple of necks behind Lucy Rose and Corinax, on second day, and now meet Lucy 6ib better. Looks good if the track is dl> High Pitch (Massey Memorial Cup) —Won Foley Memorial Handicap at Avondale like real good one, and was unlucky second day there. Is a proved horse on wet or dry tracks, but goes particularly well in mud. Crimestot* (Franklin Stakes, first division) —Ran well at Te Rapa in two-year-old race second day, and was a bit unlucky. Valstreet (Franklin Stakes, first divi-

sion) —Ran great race second day at Te Rapa after being badly left. Is highly strung and flighty at the barrier. . Lady's Boy (Harrisville Flying'— Will at least have a track to suit him. He ran two splendid races at Avondale recently. .... The Beaum (Harrisville living)--Won on this course at last meeting a couple of months ago. and was sub.sequently very unlucky at \\ liangai Is known to be very well just no ",t Liona (Franklin Stakes, second Hi) ision) —Scored well at Te Rapa seconi dav. Usually begins smartly, but on this occasion came from tne clouds. Praetor (Franklin Stakes, second

Division)—Was regarded as a certainty in two-year-old race at Te Rapa first day. but drew a bad marble and was never sighted. Perhaps this form can be overlooked. Schorr (President’s — Won handsomely first day at Whangarei, and should never have been beaten on second day. Hakanoa (President’s Handicap) Ran a fine race in big mile second day at Te Rapa, without having any of the luck in running, although he appears to have more than his share of lead to carry. Those mentioned above are all horses in form, and although on paper they appear to have wonderful chances oi paving dividends, it does not necessai - ] ily follow that they will win. Racing is not like that.
