Gunmen Riddled
CHICAGO MASSACRE IS AVENGED DEAD IN STOLEN CAR (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.55 a.m. CHICAGO, Wed. Three gunmen, two of whom ranked as captains of “Scarface Al” Capone, were shot to death today in a stolen car. The police found the bodies riddled with soft-nosed bullets, and blame the shooting on gangsters of the “Bugs Moran ang,” whose members were killed in the St. Valentine’s Day massacre. On that day one of the most coldblooded crimes in the history of Chicago occurred, when members of a gang in two cars raided a garage where a cartage company had its headquarters. They murdered seven of the with sawed-off shotguns. The roar of the guns was so great that persons in the neighbourhood thought an explosion had occurred. The victims were treated in the custom Gary gang manner; that is, they were shot down without having a chance to defend themselves. All the murderers escaped.
