WORK FOR BOYS

POSITIONS ON FARMS MR. J. S. FLETCHER’S OFFER Because he is of opinion that New Zealand boys should have equal opportunities with immigrant schoolboys, Mr. J. S. Fletcher, M.P. for Grey Lynn, has offered to advertise locally for boys who are willing to take positions on farms in Taranaki. He has advised the Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, to this effect. The Taranaki Chamber of Commerce this week asked the Prime Minister to remove the restriction on immigration as far as it affected English public school boys, as the chamber had previously settled 150 in the Taranaki Province with considerable success, and farmers were at present in need of such labour on their farms. An investigation was promised by the Prime Minister.
