OTAHUHU BOROUGH COUNCIL
ELECTION OF COMMITTEES The Mayor and councillors of the newly-elected Otahuhu Borough Council were installed at a special meeting of the council last evening. The Mayor, Mr. 11. T. Clements, on behalf of the old members, extended a welcome to the new members of the council and trusted that their sojourn together would be for the benefit of the whole district. In welcoming back the old members special reference was made to Mr. H. J. Hall, who had served on the local bodies of the district for the past 30 years. It was unanimously agreed that a motion of appreciation be placed on record of the services rendered to the borough by Mr. Hall. In proposing the new committees, the Mayor stated that he intended to abolish the Water and Drainage. Committee and combine 4 heir duties with the Works and Services Committee. Mr. .T. Hunter was appointed deputyMayor. The election of the new committees resulted as follows:—Works and Services Committee: Messrs. G. V. Pearce, C. R. Petrie, H. R. Linkhorn and J. Hunter. Legal and Finance Committee: Messrs. ,T. Hunter, J. Trenwith. IT. T. Clements, F. W. Grey. Fire Brigade Committee: Messrs. J. J. Graham, H. R. T.inkhorn. G. V. Pearee. J. Trenwith. Parks Committee: Messrs. F. W. Grey, H. R. Linkhorn, J. J. Graham, C. B. W. Seton. At the close of the meeting the members and retiring members of the council were entertained by the Mayor and Mayoress.
