RUGBY UNION S DECISION MEETING OF MANAGEMENT RANFURLY SHIELD CHALLENGE The transfer of the All Black. It. McWilliams frodh South Auckland to Auckland, was confirmed at last evening's meeting of the executive of the Auckland Rugby Union, subject to South Auckland’s approval, and McWilliams appearing before the committee at Eden Park next Saturday. It was reported that the necessary clearance had been obtained, and in the meantime had been forwarded to South Auckland for confirmation. It was decided to reply to a request from South Auckland for representation on the Auckland Union to the effect that the Auckland constitution did not permit members other than those appointed at the annual meeting to be on the committee. It was decided to challenge the Wairarapa Union for the Ranfurly , Shield and to advise the New Zea- ! land Rugby Union to this effect. The proposed date for the match is August 10. The following grounds officials were appointed for Saturday:—Mangere, Mr. J. Carr; Show Grounds. Messrs. Worsfold and Evans; St. Heliers, Mr. Galbraith; Domain. Mr. Craig: Avondale, Messrs. Matthews and Lintott; Victoria Park, Professor Bartruni: North Shore, Mr. Elworth; Manukau, Messrs. Bayliss and Highway. The New Zealand Union confirmed the reinstatements of W. F. Henry and M. Herewini. A request from the Thames Union for ' the dates of home and home 1 matches was referred to the match committee. The Waikato Union applied for a match at Hamilton on Jun«- 3. The ; application was referred to the match > committee with power to act. The South Auckland Union was granted five school footballs as re- ‘ quested. An application for a match against a B team was referred to the match committee. REINSTATEMENTS AND TRANSFERS It was decided to recommend the following players for reinstatement to the New Zealand Rugby Union; —E. Wheaton. If. H. Crook, L. J. Cocks, R. t F. Whittle. The following transfers were approved; T. Lambert, Grafton to Technical Old Boys; L. C. Denize. City to 1 Otahuhu; T. Short, Grammar Old Eoys to Otahuhu; H. H. Crook, City, was regraded as a first junior. ; The Primary Schools’ Association | wrote thanking the Auckland Union | for donations of footballs. THE AMENDED RULES SUPPORTED BY AUCKL/ SCHOOLS The Auckland Secondary Schools j Rugby Union is a strong supporter of | the amended rules, as indicated by the ; following resolution, passed at a meet- ' ing of the union yesterday: : “That this union wholeheartedly ! supports delegates to the Auckland Rugby Union in opposing the reintroduction of international rules throughout New Zealand, and is of the opinion that the amended rules are in the best interests of Rugby.”
