CHURCH-WORKER HONOURED

BIRKENHEAD METHODISTS’ ANNIVERSARY To commemorate the 49th anniversary of the church, the Birkenhead Methodists held a social in the Sunday School Hall last evening, the Rev. J. H. Allen presiding. Items were given by Mrs. W night, the Misses Hewson and Wilson, anu Messrs. Wright, Hunglemeuth, Morrows and Hosking. Mr. Allen welcomed Mr. and Mrs. O. Paterson, who had just returned from a trip abroad. Opportunity was also taken to present Mr. and Mrs. A. Wilson with a clock, suitably inscribed, and a gold frame. Mr. Allen, in making the presentation on behalf of the church, spoke of the valuable work which had been done by Mr. "Wilson during the past 49 years. Mr. A. Hadfield, on behalf of the trustees, spoke of the value of Mr. Wilson's work to the circuit, for well over 30 years. Air. and Mrs. Wilson and their family had been a tower of strength. Mr. Wilson suitably replied and thanked them for the valuable presents.

Mr. Wilson has been associated with the Birkenhead Church from its earliest days, and has filled many positions in the activities of the church, having been trustee, preacher, editor the circuit paper and a keen worker in every department. He is at present senior circuit steward
