HOCKEY SET-BACK

NO TOURNEY ON JUNE 3 The first heavy blow suffered by Auckland hockey is now apparent as a result of a. decision of the executive of the Auckland Hockey Association last evening that the King’s Birthday tournament should not be held this year. The fixture has been almost an historic annual event in this city and its abandonment is ore of the first fruits of the loss of the Remuera grounds. Several clubs will probably visit country centres on June 3. Notification was received from the Otahuhu Club of its withdrawal from the senior grade. It was decided to rearrange the senior grade accordingly. The Waikato Hockey Association requested permission for its sub-associa-tions to play in the White Horse tournament. The matter will be dealt with by the Auckland sub-associations' control authority.
