HORSES FOR HAWERA (Special to THE SUN) PALMERSTON N., To-day. The Egmont fixture at Haw era attracted tree response from Awapuni mentors, and the majority left for the scene of action yesterday morning. J. P. Coyle furnishes three candidates in the jumping contests. Mister Camp in the Hurdles, Vexatious in the Egmont Steeplechase, and Son o’ Mine in the Hack Steeples, while he will have Keddar and Skyrider to represent him on the fiat. L. Knapp will have Atareria. Puwhero and Trouble in the respective jumping events and Otairi in the Telegraph Hack Handicap. W. Bailey will give Marcellus another opportunity to prove himself at Haxvera, while Mrs. A. McDonald appears to hold a strong hand with lied fuchsia, Mountain Crag and Locarno. As a win would entail a penalty for the Century Hurdles, Locarno will not be a runner on the first day at Egmont. but as he has gone through, he may be given a run on the second day. C. New did not accompany the principal contingent yesterday morning prefering to wait until to-day. Yesterday morning Blimp (.Murray) wa> partnered by Record Mixture (Chapman) from the seven-furlong post, the latter retiring shortly after Lucre (C Broughton) joined in at the five. The first two furlongs occupied 30, but Blimp came home ahead of his companion to run the last five furlongs in L 6 2-5. The gallop was carried oul •»n the plough, and as it was heavy in Places, the time was quite fair. Howex er. the Gasbag gelding might be again disappointed by finding the track at Hawera on the hard side. Broad Acre, who will accompany Blimp through to the Haxvera fixture, bad Grand Acre as a companion over five furlongs. W. Broughton being the pilot of the former and A. G. Murrav the rider of the other. The pair ran the distance on the plough in a shade n\ - er 1.6. Grand Acre will have his next outing at Wanganui.
