EIGHT TROUT IN ONE DAY

SPORT ON LAKE OKATAINA ALMOST UNTOUCHED WATER Eight fine-conditioned trout, weighing from nine to 121 b each, is the result of one day’s fishing by Dr. F. J. Rayner. of Auckland, on Lake Okataina, 20 miles from Rotorua. rpHE fish were caught between daylight and dark last Saturday, from a small row-boat on the lake. Dr. Rayner considers this at least a record for this season and says that the number of large fish in the lake is astonishing. He ascribes their size and quantity to the fact that until about two years ago it was impossible for sportsmen to fish the lake, as there were no boats or accommodation. Now there is reported to be excellent accommodation, two good launches and any number of small boats. The day’s catch is being exhibited at Hazard's sports depot, in Queen Street.
