WANTED-MORE BOYS
SCHOOLBOYS FOR LAND IMMIGRATION RESTRICTED Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday. Th© lifting of th© restriction of immigration in the case of English public school boys was to-day asked of the Prim© Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, by th© Immigration Committee of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce. It was stated that th© chamber had settled 150 boys with remarkable success, and that the arrival of boys would not aggravate unemployment, as many farmers at present were unable to secure workers for their farms.
The Prime Minister said there was a cry throughout th© Dominion for the relief of unemployment, and for this reason immigration had been restricted in th© meantime. He had not realised, however, that the restriction had applied to schoolboys. He said he would have an inquiry made immediately and would give the chamber an early reply.
