LAND AT MATAKANA
sale to forestry company
(Special to THE SL -N ) TAURANGA, Friday
An area of 900 acres adjoining the Tauranga Harbour Board's property at Matakuna Island has been sold to a Melbourne company, which already owns large interests on the island. The acquisition of this area means that the stretch of Matakana* Island lb miles long from Panepane opposite Mount Maunganui, to Boventown Heads, will be utilised for afforestation purposes. The planting of the newly-acquired 900 acres will be put in hand immediately. The Harbour Board to-day decided to order a consignment of young trees for extending its plantation on Matakana Island.
