FORMERLY PARLIAMENT HOUSE.—Erected in 1854, on a site that was subsequently traversed by Anzac Avenue, this building was the Parliament of New Zealand in the days when Auckland was capital. Later it became the Auckland University College, a building which scarcely stands comparison with the new structure dominating the city's skyline. The old building was demolished in 1918.
