FIRE AT TAKAPUNA

Bringing water from a distance oi GO eft, the T taka puna Fire Brigade made a good save yesterday afternoon when a. four-roomed house in Bracken Avenue, Takapuna, caught fire. The house, which belongs to the Dickenson Estate, and which was occupied by Miss Dixon, was a wooden one. and as Miss Dixon was away at the time of the outbreak the fire had a good hold when the brigade arrived. However, by hard work the flames were confined to three rooms, which, were all badly damaged. Water had to be brought from Byron Avenue, a distance of 600 feet. The building was insured for £7o*j in the New Zealand Office, and the furniture for £lo‘j in the Prudential and £2OO in another office.
