SUN COMMERCIAL SERVICE
A special section for readers seeking information or -financial and commercial questions is included in these columns every Saturday. Names and addresses must be given in every instance, although not for publication , and inquirers are requested to send in questions early in the tceek, addressed to the Commercial Editor THE SUN. •Constant Reader” (Mt. Eden).— Five per cent. •C.P.” (Ponsonby). —The company has a g:ood nr me in financial circles and its shares should be sound buying. 'Finance” (Waihi). —The investment company mentioned is considered quite a sound concern. On the present market X.Z. Guarantee Corporation shares should be good buying to make up a spread of investments. There is certainly not the safety of the banking group, but you would be compensated by the high immediate return. The very fact that most banking and insurance companies issue, from time to time, new shares, and make increased payments to shareholders by way of bonuses and bigger dividends, accounts for the comparatively high price of the shares on the market at the moment. The debentures mentioned in your fourth query are considered very good buying. -We are not so keen on the shares. As a suggestion for a reasonably safe investment that would return you immediately slightly over 6 per cent, on your £3OO we would suggest you investigate a parcel of one hundred Commercial Ranks, one hundred Guarantee Corporations, and a parcel of one of the other debenture issues you have inquired about. In any case, why not see a member of the 'Change. He cannot charge for advice.
