Banking Group Easier

\ Wilsons Cements Very Firm

By

“Noon Call.”

THE ’Change closed for the week this morning with all markets in very quiet tone. The volume of business S' fell to comparatively low levels.

FLUCTUATIONS Price movements, by sales over the past 24 hours when compared with the price at the time of the previous reported sale, incl ude: N.Z. Insurance, rise of 2d. * Waihi Mining, fall of 1 d. r a * * No business was reported on ’Change ♦his morning. The market has not been as quiet for several weeks. * * * The banking group, generally, shows an easier tone. This, to a certain extent, can be accounted for by the fact that capital, which, in the ordinary course, would be placed in banking and insurance securities, has been diverted toward some of the better-favoured debenture issues which have come on the market over the past few weeks. Commercials of Australia are a shade easier. Sellers of New Zcalands dropped

od below yesterday's market without attracting a sale. Unions of Australia are practically neglected at the moment, with sellers at 22 15 10s unsupported. In the insurance section A.P.A.’s are very firm on recent improved levels. The market for New Zealands strengthened slightly yesterday and buyers at 46s 6d this morning did not attract sellers below 475. "Wilsons Cements are very strongly held and steady buyers at 41s 9d, the latest market price, fail to attract a quotation from sellers. This company closes its fimtncial year on March 31 and a balance sheet and report, showing the past year’s operations, should be available at an early date. In mining, Waihis, with Is dividend due at an early date, are weakening slightly. This morning buyers offered 13s Bd, compared with sales yesterday at 13s lQd. Mount Lyells are very firm on recent improved levels. Business yesterday afternoon.—New Zealand Insurance, 46s 8d; Farmers* Trading, 8s 6d; Waihi Mining, 13s lOd.
