TRAINING COLLEGE’S SPORTS
HONOURS WELL PLACED Swimmers of the Auckland Training College set a good standard in their annual championships last evening at the Tepid Baths. Honours were well distributed in the championship events. The 100yds men’s title went to Nagle after a keen race with Beswick. and Hodge won the 220yds. The young Fijian, Thakobau, won the short sprint championship. Scott was the winner of the breaststroke and Findlay scored in the diving. Miss Steele was the most successful woman competitor in the championships, winning two sprints. Miss Nankivell won the diving and Miss Martin the breaststroke. In a brief speech Mr. H. G. Cousins, the prinicpal of the college, mentioned the progress in life-saving. He presented medallions for proficiency in life-saving to Misses E. Steele, D. Nankivell, D. Croker, S. Warner, H. Holmes and J. Osborne. The second year students defeated
