HIROHITO GIVEN GARTER

PRINCE HENRY BESTOWS INSIGNIA

EMPEROR RECIPROCATES (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) TOKYO, Friday. The ceremony of bestowing the insignia of the Order of the Garter on the Emperor Hirohito by Prince Henry was carried out to-day. Fortunately it took place indoors, as

rain marred the pageantry of the proceedings between the palaces.

The Emperor returned the visit of courtesy, and conferred on Prince Henry the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum. A State banquet will be held this evening at the Imperial Palace.
