TAKAPUNA PARISH

A SUCCESSFUL YEAR The Takapuna Anglican parish lias a balance of £7o after expending £930 during the past year, according to the report presented to the annual meeting of parishioners on Thursday The vicar, the Rev. W. G. Monckton. presided over a large attendance*. Tho church wardens’ report showed that there had been an increase of 4,000 in the attendances, and the number of communicants was 1,200 more than last year. Principal advances were at Milford and in the parish, where Canon Young had performed excellent work. After referring to parish missionary work, the report stated that the Missionary Servico League had raised £345 in the past three years to endow and support a. bed at C.M.S. Hospital at Kerman. Plans were to be prepared meantime, and parishioners would be called upon later to discuss the matter. The introduction of the duplex envelope system had proved markedly successful, and the report referred appreciatively to the service of Sister Julia in organising this. Votes of thanks were passed to the choir, the Sunday school, the Missionary Service League, the Bible classes, the Ladies’ Guild and the Boys’ Club. Valuable help given by the Rev. O. R. Hewlett in the parish was also appreciated. A resolution of sympathy with the family of the late Geoffrey Shaw, who was accidentally drowned on the eve of Anzac Day, was carried.
