WHY the Transport Board requires a Loan The NEED for a Loan is vital and urgent. The Transport Board requires the money to improve the present transport system and to increase its scope. The approval of the Loan will mean not only increased convenience for the travelling public, but also an assurance of even less probability of an increase in rates. This is based upon the fact that AUCKLAND RATEPAYERS HAVE NEVER HAD TO PAY ANY RATES IN CONNECTION WITH TRANSPORT. Programme of Extensions Proposal No. 1 11 Proposal No. 2 EXTENSION AND IMPROVEMENT OF TRAMWAYS, AS FOLLOWS:— Extension of Tramways to Pt. Chevalier, on Remuera Road, on Mt. Eden Road, on Dominion Road, on Edendale Road, and on Richmond Road. A Tramway Eoop at the New Auckland Railway Station. A Tramway Siding in Stanley Street. Duplication of Tramway Track at Onehunga. The provision of New Tramcars and Plant, and improvement and enlargement of Workshops. £526,600 THIS PROPOSAL is ALTERNATIVE to PROPOSAL No. 1 and in the event of No. 1 proposal being CARRIED, proposal No. 2 WILL NOT be proceeded with as the works specified are included in PROPOSAL No. 1.
