DENMARK PROPOSES NEW SYSTEM END OF CONSCRIPTION (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) COPENHAGEN. Wednesday. The new Socialist Minister of Defence proposes to introduce Voluntary military service and to abolish conscription. He has decided that 1,600 men shall be trained for four months of the year, for which they will be paid nine shillings a day. All youths of the requite age will be summoned and medically examined by lots.
