COMPLETE TRANSLATION WRITTEN PRIZE FOR LITERATURE British Official Wireless Reed. 11 a.m. RUGBY, Wednesday. The japan Society in London, which for over 30 years has been the social meeting ground for British and Japanese, has offered to the Imperial University of Tokyo a gold medal, struck at the Royal Mint, to be awarded annually to the student who submits the best essay on some subject connected with the study of the English language or literature. The medal will to-morrow be presented by the Duke of Gloucester to the Imperial University, also 250 handsome volumes of Shakespearian studies, in recognition of the Japanese appreciation of Shakespeare, a complete translation of whose works into Japanese has been accomplished by Dr. Tsubouchi.
