MAJESTIC

“SHOW LIFE” ON FRIDAY The flaming feuds, fierce hatreds and wild loves of a possionate people; the beauty of the primitive, the colour of adventurous life, the spectacle of spirited savagery at play and at war, these are the themes of Dolores Del Rio’s latest picture, “Revenge,” now at the Majestic Theatre. The comedy and drama of elemental life in a background of barbaric beauty is the spirit of this story of a gipsy spitfire bent on vengeance, who learns that love is but a step from hate. When “Show Life” is screened at tho Majestic Theatre next Friday it will be unanimously declared that British pictures are regaining their lost foothold in the public mind. Although the director is a German and Anna May Wong is a Chinese, the film was made by British International Pictures at Elstree. Anna May Wong, the star, is seen as a pretty little Chinese waif, who is befriended by a broken-down actor, who takes her with him in a knifethrowing turn. The story shows the girl’s devotion for her benefactor and how he does not find out until the eleventh hour when she is fatally injured through falling on an upturned knife while she was doing her famous sword-dance. She is supported by the big Continental actor, Henry George, and several other well-known artists, particularly Mary Kidd. The picture is being released by Cinema Art Films, Ltd., the Australian distributors for British International Pictures!
