FIRE EXTINGUISHED
OUTBREAK ON SUSSEX REPAIRS TO BE EFFECTED The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the fire on board the Sussex has been extinguished, and the vessel was to leave Samarang yesterday for Sourabaya, where the damaged cargo will be unloaded and repairs to the ship effected. The Sussex is fully loaded with Eastern produce from Calcutta, Rangoon, Penang, Singapore and Samarang for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The fire broke out in the Mo. 4 hold shortly after the vessel left Samarang for Auckland last Friday morning, and the vessel put back to the Java port.
