WOMEN’S HOCKEY
NINE CLUBS COMPETING DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND Nine clubs, fielding 15 teams, will compete in women’s hockey in Auckland this season, according to advice at the executive meeting of the Auckland Ladies’ Hockey Association last evening. Aliss P. H. Dawson presided. Senior teams will be entered by the following clubs: —Arawa, Mount Eden, Somerville, Wesley, X.W.C.A., tone team each). It was decided to divide the junior grade teams into two sections, as foljows:—Section A: Alount Eden, Fapakura, Papatoetoe A, Technical A, Y.W.C.A. Section B: Papatoetoe B, Technical B, Somerville, Wesley, with the possibility of a team from Alanurewa. It was decided to play three rounds in each section. The application for affiliation from collegiate teams was deferred. The following applications for affiliation from sub-associations were granted: Franklin. Hauraki Plains, Northern Wairoa, Piako, Waihi, Waipa, Wliangarei. The following delegates were appointed:—Franklin (deferred), Hauraki Plains (Aliss AI. Harris), Northern Wairoa (Aliss Klenner), Piako (Aliss Aleehan). Waihi (Aliss C. Bestic), Waipa (Aliss A. Twiname), Whangarei (Aliss G. Lowe). The draw for the first round resulted as follows: Senior Grade —Somerville v. Wesley, Alount Eden v. Y.W.C.A., Arawa a bye. Junior Grade —Section A: Technical A v. Papakura. Y.W.C.A. v. Papatoetoe A, Alount Eden a bye. Section B: Technical B v. Papatoetoe B, Wesley v. Somerville. Manurewa a bye.
