COAL-MINE DEADLOCK
MEN’S PROPOSALS BEING CONSIDERED FEARS OF LONG STRUGGLE Reed. 1.51 p.m. SYDNEY, To-day. Tbe coal-miners’ counter-proposals will be considered to-day by the State Cabinet: but the men fear their rejection, in which event a long fignt is anticipated. . The various gasworks report that the supplies of coal are ample, and the railways are able to secure all th coal required from their own mine and non-associated workings. . The miners’ counter-proposals include: "The mines shall here opened on a pre-dispute basis and the Royal Commission to inquire into the industry shall make an award on the figures before it, to which the mmeis agree to be bound. The Government proposals jer rejected yesterday by the combine unions of the miai&S uidusu*.
