RIALTO, AND REGENT, EPSOM
“THE MICHIGAN KID” “The Michigan Kid,” now at the Rialto and Regent (Epsom) Theatres, is a perfectly balanced and thoroughly entertaining photoplay. Hex Beach’s novel of the same name furnished the story. It deals with the adventures of a straight gambler in Alaska during the gold rush of 1898 and is generally considered Beach’s most vigorous work. One of the highlights of the film version is the escape of this trio down a river flowing through a blazing forest. This sequence is done in natural colours, giving a spectacular dramatic effect. “Aloma of the South Seas,” the second feature, is an entrancing film, starring Gilda Gray.
