POPPY QUOTA
SUM OF £1,914 TAKEN COLLECTIONS AT THE STALLS The total amount received by the Auckland eßturned Soldiers’ Association from the sale of poppies and from donations and wreaths this year was £1,914 Is 2d. The figures are slightly below those for last year. It is estimated by the secretary of the Returned Soldiers’ Association. Mr. E. H. Sharp, that the net total will be a little over £1,200. as a certain amount of overhead expense has to be deducted from the proceeds of the sale. The poppies themselves cost several hundred pounds. Orf the net total. 20 per cent, will go to the Veterans’ Home, 15 per cent, will be used for administration purposes, and the remaining 65 per cent, will be used in assisting returned soldiers who are in necessitous circumstances.
