A surplus of receipts over expenditure of £152 was shown in the bal-ance-sheet presented at the annual meeting: of the Hobson Acclimatisation Society held at Dargaville. ■ The chairman, IVIr. F. J. Hargaville, said last year’s shooting season created a record. The number of licences issued was 482. A sum of £172 had been spent in purchasing pheasants from local breeders. Pleasure was expressed at the increasing number of local, people who had taken up the breeding of pheasants. Efforts to make all the opening dates for the shooting season on the same day had not. been successful. No trout had been purchased during the season, and the question of erecting a new hatchery was under consideration. A resolution was passed recommending that the shooting season open on May 1 next season. It was decided to endeavour to secure 25 brace of California quail, also to protest against pukeko being protected. The following officers were elected: Patron, Right Hon. J. G. Coates; president, Mr. George Marchant; auditor, Mr. A. L. Billing; secretary, Mr. J. P. Stanaway; chairman of council, Mr. F. J. Hargaville; vacancies in council, Messrs. R. Wilkins, F. Izzard, R. W. Cuthbert and J. F. O'Brien.
