ONE MAN, ONE JOB
NO SIDELINES FOR GUY TRAM MEN DISCOURAGED BY BOARD “Are you in favour of tram way men doing side jobs, such as gardening, painting and small engineering, in addition to their regular employment,” was a question put to Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Auckland Transport Board, at a meeting of Mount Roskill ratepayers last evening. “I have had nine years’ experience with the tramway business, and this question crops up from time to time.” said Mr. Allum. “The policy of the board is one man, one job. The manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, has put it up to the meu, and they have responded very well. “If -we are notified of any cases of duality of work w r e will put it to the men. We find they are always ready to meet us.”
